Sea Fishing

Mahseer is a Local word and means “The Big Mouth”, and are closely related to European Barbel & Carp but grow to enormous sizes in the highly oxygenated rivers or North and South India.. These shy and elusive creatures are known to be the toughest angling challenge amongst fresh water sporting fish, and hold a special place in many people’s hearts as the most special fish on the planet. Mahseer can be found across the whole of the Indian sub-continent, and will thrive in many of the native rivers and tributaries that flow across the whole of Asia from the plains to the mountains and in all temperatures, they can also be found in a few lakes that are scattered across India.

These fish have elongated bodies, witch help the water flow over them with no disturbance at all. This matched with super sized fins that act like water brakes and a huge tail, and tail root that produce all the power these fish possess. With pointed snout and big rubber lips they grub along the river bed looking for crabs and other invertebrates that make up a large part of their diet, but at sacred places across India the fish are fed in pools near temple steps, as a mark of respect, so these are great places to get a real close look at the magnificent fish.

This fish is the ultimate swimmer because their habitat consists of high grade rapids & fast flowing currents, and while traveling upstream to spawn they can travel through rapids reaching 20 - 25 knots, for days at a time, so it proves these animals are true warriors and masters of their environment
